Fictional student project This site was built as part of a training programme. No real booking, payment, or transaction can ever be made on the AtypikHouse site. The fees, deductions, and refunds mentioned on this page are simulated only.
1. General principle
Each stay is associated with a cancellation policy set by the host and approved by an administrator.
The applicable policy is displayed:
- on the stay's listing page;
- before confirming the mock booking;
- in the booking summary;
- in the traveller's personal account area.
The traveller must review this policy before confirming their mock booking.
Any amounts deducted or refunded are demo data only. No real amount is ever collected or refunded.
2. Flexible cancellation
For a stay under the flexible policy:
- more than five days before the arrival date and time: free cancellation and a full mock refund;
- from five days before arrival up to more than forty-eight hours before arrival: the mock cost of the first night is retained;
- forty-eight hours or less before arrival, or in case of no-show: no mock refund.
The calculation is based on the exact arrival date and time shown on the stay's listing page, not just the date.
3. Moderate cancellation
For a stay under the moderate policy:
- more than seven days before the arrival date and time: free cancellation and a full mock refund;
- from seven days before arrival up to more than three days before arrival: a mock refund of 50% of the stay's cost;
- three days or less before arrival, or in case of no-show: no mock refund.
The calculation is based on the exact arrival date and time shown on the stay's listing page.
Summary of the two policies
Flexible
- More than 5 days: full mock refund
- From 5 days to more than 48 hours: first night retained
- 48 hours or less: no mock refund
Moderate
- More than 7 days: full mock refund
- From 7 days to more than 3 days: 50% mock refund
- 3 days or less: no mock refund
4. Policy applicable to the booking
The policy shown on the stay's listing page at the time of confirmation is the one that applies to the mock booking.
The details of the conditions and the mock refundable amount must be visible before the booking is confirmed.
No less favourable condition can be added after confirmation.
A full copy of the applicable policy is saved with each mock booking: a later change to the listing by the host therefore never retroactively changes the terms of a booking already confirmed.
5. Cancellation by the traveller
The traveller can cancel an upcoming mock booking from their personal account area:
- open the "Upcoming bookings" section;
- select the relevant booking;
- click "Cancel this booking";
- review the mock consequences of the cancellation;
- confirm the cancellation for good.
A confirmation step is required to avoid any accidental cancellation.
Once confirmed, the booking's status is updated and a summary of the mock cancellation is shown in the personal account area.
If you run into a technical issue, you can contact AtypikHouse at contact@atypikhouse.fr.
Before the final confirmation, the personal account area clearly shows:
- the applicable policy;
- the arrival date and time;
- the time remaining before arrival;
- the total mock amount;
- the mock amount retained;
- the mock amount refunded;
- the booking's new status after confirmation.
The final button uses an explicit wording, "Confirm the mock cancellation", rather than a plain "Cancel" that could be ambiguous in a confirmation window.
6. Cancellation by the host or administrator
When a mock booking is cancelled by the host or by an administrator, the traveller is notified.
The booking's total mock amount is then marked as fully refunded. No real bank refund is made, since no real amount was ever collected.
The reason for cancellation may be recorded for demo and administrative tracking purposes.
A traveller can only cancel their own bookings; a host can only act on bookings linked to their own stays; an administrator can act on any booking. These permissions are checked on every cancellation, not just hidden in the interface.
7. Exceptional circumstances and force majeure
In a real-world deployment, force majeure could be recognised when an event beyond the control of the party concerned, reasonably unforeseeable, and whose effects cannot be avoided by appropriate measures prevents the booking from being carried out.
In the AtypikHouse demo, a natural disaster, an administrative closure, or a comparable event may lead to simulating:
- a full mock refund;
- or a mock postponement of the stay accepted by both parties.
No real refund, postponement, or stay is ever carried out as part of the student project. A simple disagreement or change of mind does not constitute force majeure.
8. Modifying a booking
Changing the dates or number of travellers depends on the features available in the personal account area.
When a direct change isn't available, the traveller must cancel their mock booking and then make a new one.
A new booking remains subject to the availability and cancellation terms displayed at the time it is confirmed.
9. Confirmation of cancellation
After a successful mock cancellation:
- the booking's status is updated;
- the same booking cannot be cancelled a second time;
- a cancellation summary is shown;
- the booking remains visible in the personal account area's history;
- the label "Mock booking cancelled" is shown;
- the mock refunded amount is shown;
- no bank transaction is created.
