Fictional student project This site was built as part of a training programme. No real booking, payment, or transaction can ever be made on the AtypikHouse site.
1. Purpose and scope
These terms of sale, hereinafter the "Terms of Sale", set out the conditions applicable to mock bookings of unique stays made on the AtypikHouse site.
They govern the relationships presented between:
- AtypikHouse, a fictional connecting platform;
- the traveller, who makes a booking request;
- the host, an individual or professional offering a unique stay.
As part of this student project, no booking constitutes a real rental contract and no real commercial relationship is created between the parties.
2. Description of the service
AtypikHouse is presented as a platform that lets travellers search for and book unique stays offered by hosts.
The site allows users to, in particular:
- browse available stays;
- select travel dates;
- view a mock price;
- make a demo booking;
- view their booking history;
- submit a review after a completed mock booking.
AtypikHouse acts solely as a fictional intermediary between travellers and hosts.
3. Information about stays
Each listing page may show, in particular:
- its location;
- its capacity;
- its amenities;
- its photos;
- its availability;
- its price per night;
- its check-in and check-out times;
- its specific conditions;
- its cancellation policy.
The information is provided by the host and approved by an administrator before publication.
The photos, features, availability, and prices shown may be fictional and are presented only to demonstrate how the site works.
4. Booking process
To make a mock booking, the traveller must:
- select a stay;
- choose their check-in and check-out dates;
- enter the number of travellers;
- review their stay's details;
- view the mock price breakdown;
- accept these Terms of Sale;
- confirm their mock booking.
The traveller must check that the information entered is accurate before confirming.
The booking cannot be completed when:
- the dates are no longer available;
- required information is incomplete;
- the Terms of Sale have not been accepted.
The final button in the flow reads "Confirm the mock booking", so as never to suggest any real payment or booking.
5. Accepting the Terms of Sale
Before confirming their booking, the traveller must tick a mandatory checkbox, unchecked by default: "I have read and accept the terms of sale." The phrase "terms of sale" links to this page.
The mock booking cannot be recorded until this box is checked.
The date and time of acceptance, the version of the Terms of Sale accepted, the account ID, and the booking ID are recorded in the database.
Accepting the Terms of Sale remains separate from:
- subscribing to the newsletter;
- accepting optional cookies;
- accepting the Terms of Use when creating an account.
6. Prices and fees
The price shown on the stay's listing page reflects the mock rate for the selected stay.
The summary may include, where applicable and clearly shown:
- the cost of the nights;
- a service fee;
- fees related to an additional service;
- an estimated tourist tax;
- a mock deposit;
- demo discounts or promotional codes.
All fees are shown before the booking is confirmed. No extra amount is added after confirmation.
Where a mock pay-on-arrival option is offered, specific service fees may apply. Their exact amount or how they are calculated is shown in the summary before the mock booking is confirmed.
The amounts shown are demo data only. No amount is actually owed.
7. Mock payment
The site's payment system is entirely fictional. It must never:
- make any charge;
- send any payment request to a bank;
- collect any genuine bank card number;
- store any expiry date;
- store any security code;
- create any real invoice.
Users must never enter any genuine bank details.
This notice is shown at the payment step: "Demo built as part of a student project. No real charge, payment, or purchase will ever be made. Do not enter any real bank details."
No information entered at this step is sent to a payment provider or stored, either in the database or in the browser.
8. Booking confirmation
After confirmation, a mock booking summary is shown to the traveller. It may include:
- a mock booking number;
- the name of the stay;
- the dates chosen;
- the number of travellers;
- the price breakdown;
- the booking status;
- the associated cancellation policy.
A summary of the mock booking is shown after confirmation and saved in the traveller's personal account area.
A confirmation email is also sent to the address linked to the traveller's account. This email clearly restates that this is a mock booking made as part of a student project and that no real payment or transaction was made.
9. Changes and cancellation
Each stay is associated with a cancellation policy (flexible or moderate), set by the host and approved by an administrator: no listing is published without a cancellation policy. The applicable policy is shown:
- on the stay's listing page;
- before the booking is confirmed;
- in the booking summary;
- in the traveller's personal account area.
The traveller can cancel an upcoming mock booking directly from their personal account area, using the "Cancel this booking" button.
Any refundable amounts or cancellation fees shown are simulated only. No real bank refund is made since no amount was ever collected.
See the full cancellation policy (French page).
10. No right of withdrawal
For a genuine booking, the fourteen-day right of withdrawal generally does not apply to accommodation services to be provided on a specific date or during a specific period.
However, as the AtypikHouse site is a fictional student project, no real booking and no commercial contract is ever entered into.
This information is presented only to reproduce the expected behaviour of a genuine booking platform.
Cancelling a mock booking is governed by the cancellation policy shown for the stay concerned.
11. Deposit and damages
Some stays may show a mock deposit. As part of the demo:
- no amount is ever held;
- no bank pre-authorisation is made;
- no charge is ever taken;
- no real damage can ever be billed.
The deposit and any deductions shown are only there to illustrate how a booking platform works.
12. Traveller obligations
The traveller agrees to:
- provide accurate information;
- respect the stated maximum capacity;
- follow the stay's mock house rules;
- not use the site for fraudulent purposes;
- not book under a false identity;
- not attempt to bypass security measures;
- never enter genuine bank details.
In a real-world deployment, the traveller would also be responsible for the conduct of the people accompanying them during the stay.
13. Host obligations
The host is responsible for the information they publish about their stay. They agree, in particular, to:
- present their stay accurately;
- provide consistent prices and availability;
- not advertise amenities that don't exist;
- hold the necessary rights over the photos published;
- comply with the obligations applicable to their activity;
- keep their listing's information up to date.
Every listing must be approved by an administrator before publication.
As part of the student project, no listing constitutes a genuine rental offer.
14. Arrival, departure, and traveller no-shows
Any check-in and check-out times shown are fictional.
A late arrival, early departure, or a traveller no-show may be simulated in the interface, but produce no real financial consequence.
Rules relating to a late arrival or a traveller's absence are shown on the stay's listing page where used in the demo.
15. Liability
AtypikHouse strives to ensure the site runs smoothly and that the information shown is consistent. However:
- the site is a student demonstration;
- the stays and hosts may be fictional;
- availability and prices may be simulated;
- no accommodation service is actually provided;
- no amount is ever collected;
- no real contractual relationship is created.
AtypikHouse cannot be held liable for:
- a temporary interruption of the site;
- an error in demo data;
- the loss of test data;
- the use of a third-party service;
- a malfunction related to the local or demo environment.
16. Force majeure
In a real-world deployment, neither party could be held liable when an event beyond its control, which could not reasonably have been foreseen at the time of booking, and whose effects cannot be avoided by appropriate measures, prevents it from fulfilling its obligations.
In the current version of the project, this clause is presented for demonstration purposes only, since no real stay is ever organised.
17. Complaints and mediation
Any question or complaint about how the site works can be sent to:
AtypikHouse
12 rue du Beaudon
60350 Pierrefonds, France
contact@atypikhouse.fr
01 30 36 00 00
As the site is a fictional student project with no real commercial activity, no consumer mediator is currently appointed.
Before any genuine commercial operation, AtypikHouse would need to join a mediation scheme and add the relevant mediator's details to these Terms of Sale.
18. Personal data
Information collected during the mock booking flow is processed in accordance with the site's privacy policy (French page).
There, the traveller can find information about, in particular:
- the data collected;
- the purposes of processing;
- retention periods;
- recipients;
- exercising their rights.
19. Changes to these Terms
AtypikHouse may amend these Terms of Sale to reflect changes to the site, its features, or applicable rules.
The last-updated date is shown at the top of the page.
The version applicable to a mock booking is the one accepted at the time it was confirmed.
In the event of a significant change, users may be notified and asked to accept the new version.
20. Applicable law and contact
These Terms of Sale are governed by French law.
